I'd like to join your game but I know jack all about Tru Blood, except that it involves vampires and exceedingly handsome Scandinavians. How much would you recommend knowing about the series before submitting an application?

I don't think you will, to be honest. Children of Fate, while operating around the basic setting of True Blood (as in vampires are out of the coffin) is otherwise completely separate from the television series itself. As a stand-alone, we will provide numerous explanations throughout gameplay for plot reasons, and if you're unsure about anything the mods here have no lives and watch True Blood far too much. We're all very happy to help anyone out! Also, we can provide various resources from websites to YouTube clips if it's necessary.

Do you have any guidelines for the Fae? I mean, other than they can't be more than half-blood. I mean something about strengths/weaknesses/abilities. I'd like to bring in a male Fae, and I didn't want to color outside the lines. Though that is pretty fun. :-)

SPOILER ALERT?! IM IntentionIsClear for a tl;dr/spoiler free version.

Sorry about the delayed reply! You see, Sookieverse is a cruel, cruel beast. It gave the fandom fairies, but not even the internet will give guidelines to their abilities under the INFURIATING excuse of 'they're a secretive race!' First, we'll start with some solid factoids about half-blooded fairies.

Concerning strengths, their aging is severely regressed. At one point in the novels, they bring in a 500 year old half-fairy who still appears to be in his early to mid thirties. For the sake off simplicity, we're gonna go ahead and say that they age normally up until a certain point. They also have superior strength, speed and senses. Since they are only half-blooded, all of their senses wouldn't be 100% as strong as a full blooded fairy or a vampire. People with any drop of fairy blood in them tend to have a knack for attracting others, especially other supernaturals. The more fairy the character, the tastier their blood will be to vampires and their blood/scent/whathaveyou is literally so tasty to vampires, it's almost impossible to resist. Lemons and limes will make a half-blooded fairy all sorts of sick, but iron proves more fatal. Think of iron to fairies as silver to vampires. While a little scratch from iron would instantly turn a fairy into dust, it has effects on half-fairies similar to vampires attacked with silver.

You have some wiggle room with their attributes and feel free to up the severity of their weaknesses. These tid bits since genetics are oodles of gambley fun. Semi-pointed ears are always nice/encouraged.

As far as abilities go, since Charlaine Harris left us in the dark, we're going to say half-fairies don't particularly need/have to have it, but they can possess one special ability aside from their natural traits. Think along the lines of limited renditions of telekinesis, telepathy, mediumhood or if your Sookie Stackhouse, zapping the bejeesus out of people with your hands. Half-blooded and up fairies have access to Faery; aka their Motherland. After their numbers took a severe hit, the pressure to get to baby making with half-blood or full-blooded fairies increased. But then again, that's provided if your character is even involved with other fairies/Faery. Sorry if this was too vague! I hope this at least steers you in the right direction! If you want more answers, keep commenting or IM me at IntentionIsClear. All I can say is YAAAY more fairies!

If you want your fairy to have a traditional, Faery name, go with something Irish.
