| There have always been times in our world where something so momentous has occurred that it rocked the very foundation of humanity; June 28th of 2008 was just one of those times, when millions of people turned on their televisions and were greeted with a live message on every major news channel. A message that would forever change the course of history. Vampires are very real. At first, some took it to be an elaborate if not slightly twisted prank. But as time wore on and no clear explanations were given, the truth sank in slowly. They called it The Great Revelation – most of them, anyway. Reactions of the world couldn't be summed up in mere words; violence broke out instantaneously. Protests were had at almost every street corner. Churches seemed to split in half – some welcomed their new-found companions while others damned them to Hell. It seemed like the whole world was flipped upside down and everyone was scrambling to catch up with it. Then, from the rubble of confusion and panic came two new players on the global chessboard: the American Vampire League and the Fellowship of the Sun. While one advocated the rights of Vampire-Americans and pleaded with their fellow countrymen to end the violence, the other urged all humans to take up arms against "these unholy creatures of Satan." One thing was for certain, however: with synthesised blood known as "Tru Blood" rapidly becoming most Vampires' new diet, the terror that came with film vampires seemed to ebb away by the second. Still, life as we know it, while radically different in so many ways, continued on. For every person who rejected the very idea of a Vampire, there seemed to be ten more who supported them. Before anyone knew it, a year had passed since that June 28th. Laws were being passed both for and against Vampires, the Fellowship of the Sun had lost its esteemed founder and leader in a tragic accident, and the American Vampire League was growing more and more stronger by the day. Magazines, television shows, and product advertisements that featured or were geared toward Vampires became so part of the norm that it was laughable. Like Lady Gaga, it was nigh impossible to avoid at least a single mention from either the AVL or the Fellowship of the Sun on any given day at any given time. But the bustling town of Paradise Falls has its own business to worry about than the politics being shoved upon everyone in the known world. As a fairly large, well-to-do town and tourist hotspot, the Californian creed is the way to be here. It was as if almost immediately after the Great Revelation that the residents here took to it like a fish does to water; new Vampire friendly bars and shops opened up, and a steady cash revenue was seen once word got out of the town's generally open minded lifestyle. It has been listed as one of the most Vampire-friendly towns in the United States. While everything seems to be exactly the way the town's name makes it sound, it becomes quickly obvious to anyone who stays within its city limits long enough that nothing is at is appears, and that even the nicest of towns has its dark side. |
| Based around the popular HBO series True Blood, Children of Fate is a present day, original character-exclusive roleplay game set in the fictional Californian town of Paradise Falls. Due to the city's reputation of being a Vampire-friendly haven, there has been a great spike in Vampiric activity around the town of Paradise Falls, drawing attention from tourists, new residents to the town and the media alike. And in a town where being a blood-sucking murderer (ex or current) is welcomed with open arms, what's to stop other creatures from gathering in it? Unbeknownst to them, each of these newcomers are a part of things whether they asked to be or not. The threads of fate of many previously unconnected have suddenly intertwined. The good, the evil, and the neutral has come together in a single town where their alignments mean nothing. They are to take part in a newly written destiny for a newly created world. They are the children of fate. |
